I. We are Esencia.Patagonia

For over 20 years now, we’ve devoted ourselves to the art of designing and operating high – end experiences in Patagonia. Our mission, to catalyze transformation trough travel.

We curate trips that combine nature, adventure, gastronomy and art as a gate to exploration and a way to inspire a new mindset.

We share moments not only to a touristic end but to invite us to reflect on our bond with the environment.

II. Our Method

In order to accomplish our mission, we are curating a method that goes beyond travel.

A method designed to inspire personal transformation while creating positive social, economic, and environmental impact.

This approach is lived and refined through every journey we design, working alongside local communities and natural environments to ensure each experience becomes a force for regeneration.

Through this vision, we have identified seven essential components that guide our way of working and shape every experience we create, leaving a meaningful footprint on both traveler and destination.

Inspiration

Esencia’s method is inspired in the following movements:

1 – SHARING NATURE (Joseph Cornell, 1979)

It uses creative nature activities that fosters empathy and makes ecological principles come alive.

2- SLOW TRAVEL (2016)

It’s about living destinations, nos just visiting. It’s about connecting with people, their culture, food, environment and with yourself.

3- LEAVE NO TRACE

We want to spread their values of nature caring and low impact guidelines to explore the outdoors.

How we live by the method: In our Product

Duration

We design and operate integral trips, lasting from 3 days onwards.

To achieve the transformation to which we aspire, we believe in living a destination with all its elements of identity.

This means prioritizing an exchange with locals’ traditions and the environment.

Storytelling

We design individual, family and corporate experiences with programs that allow you to experience first-hand the transformation during your stay(*):

  • Wellness and meditation courses (e.g.: Wim Hof, Sankalpa)
  • Healthy nutrition
  • Exchange with local community (e.g.: Herreros de la Luz or Gotitas de Esfuerzo Soup Kitchen)
  • Conservation of local flora and fauna
  • Team building activities
  • Local artist’s atelier (e.g.: Pablo Bernasconi Art Gallery)
  • Planting trees, visit to local greenhouse, visit to Isla Victoria’s school.

Values

We have incorporated the concept of “Km 0”: we provide activities that cause the least impact on the environment, such as sailing, kayaking, trekking, mountain biking or stand – up paddle starting from locations and lodgings that do not involve transfers in vehicles or the minimum and required ones

Quantity vs. Quality:

We reduced the number of experiences in our rates list based on our philosophy of “less is more”

Prioritizing quality over quantity means, from now on, dedicating ourselves to those experiences that reflect our method: this means, that are 100% operated by us, in which we can take care of every detail, being fundamental actors of our purpose of inspiring people’s transformation.

Consulting, product development & marketing

We partner with projects with commercial potential that resonate with us because we can also apply the method to them.

After more than 20 years in business, we feel comfortable in enabling the client to achieve an operational structure with differential value in the art of providing experiences.

Family team

We have a select team of guides who give voice to our values in every contact with those who pass through our experiences:

  • They transmmit respect for nature and awareness for the care of the National Parks we travel through.

  • They invite to remain silent in nature and avoid the use of social media.

  • They avoid the use of adjectives during the service to allow for wonder without emotional conditioning. They share local customs, recipes and stories that are the foundation of each service.

How we live by the method: Operation Deparment

Accommodation

We apply quotas per location to protect privacy and achieve an atmosphere that allows them to connect with themselves and with nature.

Risk Management

We apply an emergency protocol, weather forecast, and first aid kit (external defibrillator) to protect guests during field trips.

Time Frame

We’ve identified overcrowded locations during daylight hours,
so we suggest new versions of some experiences during
sunset or early morning, instead(*).

(*)e.g.: An early dinner during sunset in summer season for Isla Experience or Exotic Lake. A breakfast for early birds or a dinner during sunset for an Andes Trail experience.

Leave no Trace

We’ve adopte the Leave No Trace movement Seven Principles, which provide an easily understood framework of minimum impact practices for anyone visiting the outdoors.

IV. Transformation Main Fund Impact Offset Fund.

The Esencia Method

Conservation Purposes

We created Esencia.Patagonia’s Transformation Fund (ETF), our own tool to compensate for the environmental, social and economic impact of our operations.

All of our product rates include a percentage that is destined to this Fund, with which we support:

  • Projects with conservation purposes in the places we visit.
  • Local communities’ sustainability.
  • The continuous training of our staff.

Carbon Footprint Offset

The project’s economic impact on the local community is significant.

In order to create awareness, we have commissioned specialists in environmental studies with researching the impact of each one of our tours and tourism services.

The result was a colour-coded rates book that allows users to easily identify the impact and carbon footprint of each service they hire.

By doing this, we include Carbon Footprint amounts in the Transformation Fund and destine them to the protection of the areas we impact.
